Carpentron
BIOGRAPHY
Carpentron is the solo project of Chris Torgersen, a Brooklyn, NY, songwriter and composer who has recently returned from a long dormant period. Chris is a founding member of and frequent contributor to The Very Us Artists, and a member of post-industrial neo-alternative rock duo The Synthasium with John LaSala. He is also an avid devourer of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and, bizarrely enough, has an MBA.
Chris has been composing since the early 1990s. He started out with a little Casio keyboard and a 4-track cassette recorder and eventually worked his way up to MIDI files and a digital 8-track recorder, and from there moved on to doing work on his computer. His music is mostly electronic in nature, though it takes influence from mostly non-electronic sources like 70s progressive rock. One could say it is like Nine Inch Nails meets Peter Gabriel-era Genesis with some Rush mixed in.
Chris has a real passion for writing about himself in third person.

Completed Albums
The Eight Year War(2008)
Nine songs / 37.8 minutes of me, my computer, and a synthesizer doing my peculiar blend of electronic and rock songs.
Diatribes(2009)
This is completely unrepresentative of my work as a whole. I wrote and recorded this in two days, doing a lot of stealing from my own previous work in order to get it done on time. I was working with a serious lack of equipment, including a means of recording anything other than computer-generated sounds. I'm happy with some aspects, like the lyrics (which are all spoken by a horrible computer voice), but this is extremely minimal for me.
